After 34 hours flight, I arrived Brazil! I transit in Tokyo, LA and Chicago. It is a pity that I couldn’t find free wireless in US. Thus I cannot add US flag to my backpacker account.
The first thing I mention in Brazil is most of car are hatchback type, manual and usually no more than 1600cc. the drivers here always rush and crazy, so small car is more suitable here. My coworker’s friend, Rosana, take me to her friend’s birthday party just four hours after I arrived Brazil. Although most of her friends cannot speak English well, I still have fun. They taught me to dance “full hot(forró)”, I am not sure about the spelling, but this is a good class to know Brazil. Another thing I am surprised is about the people, various types of people in this party, although they are in different colors, they all Brazilian.
This morning I went out alone. I am afraid go out in the night, because I saw many hookers just opposite my hotel. I went to a Sunday market and pretend I am Brazilian. Since in Sao Paulo, lots of Japanese and Chinese stay here, nobody will surprise about me. In the noon, Daniel and Rosana take me to Taiwanese church in Brazil. I can’t believe there are so many Taiwanese in Brazil and we can communicate with Taiwanese. They help me to change the money and bring me to a Brazilian restaurant. I always can’t remember the dish name, but this quite help me to understand Brazilian food. I am also curious about why their parents came to Brazil. They told me most of Taiwanese here are willing to go to US, Canada or Australia, just stay here temperately. But most of them failed and keep stay in Brazil. They also told me the worst two things here are violence and tax. Beside this, everything is fine. But for me the biggest problem is Portuguese. Most of time I don’t understand what people talk about around me. This is really special experience for me. Another funny thing is although they are Brazilian; they still like Chinese food and couldn’t live without it.
